This year, I’m trying to get more creative in the kitchen. I already cook pretty often due to the rising cost of fast food, although those meal deals have certainly saved me on nights I don’t feel like cooking. But “cook” usually means heating up frozen meals or canned soups.
Don’t get me wrong, these convenience meals are filling, and there’s nothing wrong with eating them. But my New Year’s resolution was to start making food from scratch, and during one of my recent Aldi runs, I found a hidden gem that actually makes me excited to cook.
Aldi's Happy Farms Spreadable Cheese Wedges
I hate to admit it, but I’ve fallen into the protein craze that’s followed us into 2025. For dinner, I like to make a protein pasta with marinara and browned turkey meat—pretty simple. But I like to sprinkle some cheese on my hot pasta, just for a little extra flavor.
Recently, I walked down Aldi's cheese aisle, and my eyes stumbled upon a Happy Farms product that looked familiar.

If you’re like me, you might notice that the Happy Farms Spreadable Cheese Wedges look and taste eerily similar to Laughing Cow’s Spreadable Cheese Wedges, making Happy Farms’ version the perfect dupe at half the cost. Aldi has three flavor options—Creamy Original, Spicy Pepper Jack, and Creamy Garlic & Herb. (I opted for the garlic flavor.)
After cooking my pasta, sauce, and meat, it was time to combine everything together. I plopped one of the cheese wedges into the still-hot pasta and watched as it melted easily, sticking to every edge and crevice of the rotini. After adding my sauce and meat, I mixed everything together and made myself a bowl.
In just one bite, I knew I made the right flavor choice. The cheese is perfectly flavored and melts in your mouth. It adds some creaminess to the dish without being overly powerful. And combined with the marinara sauce and meat, it perfectly complements everything. Not only can you use it in your dinner recipes, but it’s perfect for spreading over crackers for a snack.
The next time you’re at Aldi, I highly recommend picking up these Happy Farms cheeses. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
