It’s the dead of winter, and if I’m being honest, looking for delicious and easy comfort food recipes is starting to feel a bit repetitive. While I’ll always love a lineup of soups, stews, and casseroles, sometimes, I just don’t have it in me to cook a whole meal from scratch. Thankfully, Trader Joe’s has a new item that many say will hit the spot when you crave something warm, comforting, and, most importantly, low effort.

Trader Joe’s New Handheld Chicken Pot Pies

Nothing screams winter to me like a chicken pot pie. It’s hearty, warming, and so deliciously rich. Plus, who doesn’t love a flaky crust? While chicken pot pie is not a new store item for Trader Joe’s, its newest product is the pot pie in an all-new form: Handheld Chicken Pot Pies.

These mini heat-and-serve pot pies are the easiest way to get a comforting winter meal on the table in minutes. They consist of the usual suspects in a pot pie, like carrots, peas, and potatoes, and a buttery crust that encases the filling. Each box contains two pies and costs $4.49. They can be found in the freezer section of your nearest Trader Joe’s—but only for a limited time.

Trader Joe’s fans did not hold back on their excitement about the new item on Instagram.

“Now, why couldn’t they have been released at the beginning of winter,” one fan commented. “CHICKEN POT PIE HOT POCKET,” another added.

Other customers found the wording on the packaging questionable. Along with vegetables and pastry crust, the mini pies include “mostly dark meat chicken.” While TJ's is implying the pot pies hold a mix of white and dark meat, shoppers are saying it sounds a little too much like mystery meat.

“I’m really not digging the ‘mostly’ verbiage,” one shopper said.

While some are questioning TJ's word choice, rest assured that the only meat on the ingredient list is chicken. Some confusing diction is not worth missing out on this delicious winter snack while it's still on store shelves.
