Key Takeaways
- Taco Bell just released new Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders after a successful market test in 2024.
- The mini Crunchwrap Sliders are available at Taco Bell now for a limited time only.
We know they say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” but that just doesn’t apply to a fast food menu. Even though most fast food menus are perfect as-is, we will never say no to new items.
Thankfully, Taco Bell knows its fans are always craving something new, which is why it’s constantly testing new menu items in different parts of the country. And, if we’re lucky, we’ll see those items nationwide at a later date—which is exactly what happened with its new version of the Crunchwrap Supreme.
Taco Bell Releases New Crunchwrap Sliders
In 2024, Taco Bell tested the Crunchwrap Sliders with customers in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio for a limited time. The “fun-sized” sliders were snackable versions of the beloved Crunchwrap Supreme, and were tested in a few different varieties.
Now, Taco Bell is bringing one winner nationwide, the Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders.
The new Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders feature grilled steak, creamy chipotle sauce, pico de gallo, Cheddar cheese, and a mini tostada, all wrapped up in a flour tortilla, griddled, and served with warm Green Chile Queso sauce.
Taco Bell
These new snacks are quite different from the Crunchwrap Sliders Taco Bell has served in the past. Mainly, they don’t cost $1 like they did in 2014. Instead, each order comes with two sliders and costs $4.99—similar to the recently released Cheesy Dipping Burritos.
Back then, Taco Bell offered Beefy Cheddar, Spicy Chicken, and BLT Crunchwrap Sliders—all made with Fritos chips instead of a tostada. The Beefy Cheddar was similar to the 2024 test, made with ground beef, nacho cheese sauce, Cheddar cheese, and Fritos. While the Spicy Chicken was made with shredded chicken, creamy chipotle sauce, and Fritos, and the BLT was made with bacon bits, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado ranch, and Fritos.
After testing at more than 30 restaurants in Ohio, the Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders are now available at all Taco Bell locations nationwide for a limited time.
We tried the new Crunchwrap Sliders during the market test, and here is our honest review.
Our Honest Review
The first thing we discovered about the market test was that different restaurants were offering different versions of the Crunchwrap Sliders. So, the Taco Bell we visited was selling the Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders or a customized vegetarian version with black beans. Today, the Steak & Queso Crunchwrap Sliders can be made with chicken, slow-roasted chicken, or potatoes instead.
Courtney Kassel
Our Allrecipes editor Courtney Kassel tried both the steak and bean version and described the sliders as “pocket-sized delights” filled with all your favorite Crunchwrap fixings.
While the portable Crunchwrap Sliders are the perfect shrunken-down version of a menu fan-fave—and ideal for a quick snack or sharing with friends—Kassel laments that the OG Crunchwrap isn't available in slider form.
“My go-to Crunchwrap Supreme is one with ground beef [so] my only wish is that the Crunchwrap Sliders were available with the option of ground beef rather than just steak,” said Kassel.
Hopefully, the steak-filled Crunchwrap Slider is only the beginning when it comes to snackable, shareable new menu items. After all, who wouldn’t want a side order of Crunchwrap Supremes to pair with their go-to tacos or a Mexican Pizza?
