When you finish eating, load your dishwasher, and put the machine on its cycle for the night, the last thing you want is to open it up to find your dishes still covered in bits of food and grease. Not only do you have to put some manpower into scrubbing off the set-in food, but also it makes you wonder just how clean all your other dishes really are.
Cascade has long been a leading brand in dishwasher detergent, trying to fight off stuck-on food, grease, and spotty dishes—all while easing customers’ minds about the simplicity and effectiveness of the dishwasher itself. However, sometimes even the best of the best need to reevaluate their approach.
Previously, Cascade has sold Free & Clear, Complete, Platinum, and Platinum Plus ActionPacs dishwasher pods. When it launched its best-yet Platinum Plus detergent in 2023, the brand promised to remove up to 50 percent of protein-rich food enzymes, but it quickly learned that only half wasn’t enough. So, in comparing itself to its old Platinum Plus dishwasher detergent, Cascade is revamping the formula to release its New & Improved Cascade Platinum Plus.

With more customers cooking meals with “complex soils” like cheesy eggs and pan-seared meats, Proctor & Gamble found that the original enzyme in Cascade Platinum Plus wasn’t enough to leave those dishes spot free. So, it developed a new prosperity enzyme to fight those fats and proteins for clean dishes every time.
The New & Improved Cascade Platinum Plus ActionPacs now offer up to 100 percent food residue removal and provide 30 percent more cleaning power as compared to the OG Platinum Plus formula. With the help of Dawn, the New & Improved Cascade Platinum Plus has 25 percent more surfactant agents than regular Platinum Plus to remove grease and leave dishes dry and spot-free.
All of these new ingredients and enzymes in the dishwasher detergent pods are meant to make using your dishwasher easier—without the need for pre-rinsing or re-washing dishes. Plus, the updated version features an upgraded scent as well.
New & Improved Cascade Platinum Plus will replace the original Platinum Plus at retailers nationwide. You’ll start seeing the new product, with the "New & Improved" banner, on shelves now wherever Cascade Platinum Plus is sold. The ActionPacs will be available in a nine-count bag, 19-count bag, and 47-count tub.
This means you can feel free to keep making that gooey, TikTok-famous mac and cheese or saucy, hearty cheeseburger casserole—trusting your dishwasher can handle those extra-messy dishes.
