Fish sandwich season is officially here, and fast food chains are bringing their best catch to the table.
Arby’s kicked things off by bringing back its trio of fish sandwiches in January, followed by Burger King reviving its Fiery Big Fish. Popeyes reintroduced its Flounder Fish Sandwich, while Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. brought back the Redhook Beer-Battered Fish Sandwich nationwide. Some chains are even thinking beyond sandwiches—Zaxbys, for instance, is now serving up a Southern Fried Shrimp Basket.
In summary: it’s easier than ever to find Lenten dining options from the drive-thru.
But, just because Bojangles has been busy rolling out its brand-new brunch menu doesn’t mean it’s sitting out this fish-filled season. This year, the chain is not only bringing back its beloved fish sandwich, the Bojangler—it’s also debuting a deluxe version, giving fans even more reason to make Bojangles their go-to Friday stop.
Bojangles Brings Back the Bojangler—With a New Deluxe Version
Southern chain Bojangles is best known for its fried chicken and scratch-made buttermilk biscuits, but those in the know will tell you—its fish sandwich is just as noteworthy.

The classic Bojangler features a panko-breaded Alaskan Pollock filet seasoned with Bo’s Famous Seasoning, topped with a slice of American cheese and Duke’s Tartar Sauce, all served on a toasted bun.
This time around, Bojangles is taking things up a notch with the Bojangler Deluxe. The new version swaps out the classic tartar for the chain’s signature Bo Sauce and adds crisp shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and pickles, offering a refreshing crunch and a tangy-sweet twist that sets it apart from the sea of fast food fish sandwiches.
“We’re stepping up our fish sandwich game by introducing the new Bojangler Deluxe,” Marshall Scarborough, Vice President of Menu and Culinary Innovation at Bojangles, shared in a press release. “Our fans expect big flavor when they come to Bojangles, and this sandwich really brings it. You can’t go wrong combining Bo Sauce and fresh produce with a Bo-seasoned crispy fish filet.”
As for which version fans prefer? The internet’s consensus seems to be: “One of each, please!”
Both the original Bojangler and the Bojangler Deluxe are available now at Bojangles locations nationwide as à la carte options or as part of a combo meal. So, if you’re looking to shake up your fish sandwich order this season, Bojangles has just what you need—whether you like to keep it classic or go all-in on the deluxe experience.
