We’re four months into 2025 and let’s just pause to think about all the new releases from Frito-Lay. We’ve seen Flamin’ Hot Doritos Korean-Style BBQ, Rold Gold Selects, Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle Cheetos, Lay’s Poppables Sweet Potato Sea Salt, Ruffles Greek-Style Ranch, SunChips Honey BBQ, and a whole new “Simply” line of snacks. That’s not even to mention the various flavors the brand brought back this year.
With all those new releases, you might be wondering how the minds at Frito-Lay can keep churning out new ideas. And, while most of the credit goes to the R&D team, some of it is owed to the fans.
Back in 2012, Lay’s launched its “Do Us a Flavor” contest, wherein customers could submit potato chip flavor ideas for Frito-Lay to consider. Through the four years of contests, we saw 14 new flavors come to fruition—including some fan favorites like Crispy Taco and Cheesy Garlic Bread.
After a seven-year hiatus, Lay’s brought back the contest in late 2024. From October through February, the brand received more than 700,000 submissions—and, now, it has narrowed its finalists down to three.
The three final flavors will be bagged and sold at retailers across the country for Lay’s fans to vote on their favorite—with the creator of the winning flavor receiving $1 million.
Lay’s has finally announced its three finalists and Bacon Grilled Cheese, Valentina & Lime, and Wavy Korean-Style Fried Chicken are hitting shelves this month.
Lay’s Is Releasing 3 New Flavors Created by Fans

Following the success of Lay’s Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup chips, Paula from Oklahoma created the Bacon Grilled Cheese Flavored Potato Chips. These chips are inspired by her late father’s grilled cheese recipe, which added savory bacon to the comfort food sandwich.
Araceli from California also took inspiration from her favorite childhood snack to create Lay’s Valentina & Lime Flavored Potato Chips. As a child, she would add Valentina hot sauce and fresh lime to a bag of Classic Lay’s potato chips—and now, her favorite snack is coming to markets.
Neelia from Virginia went global with her Lay’s Wavy Korean-Style Fried Chicken Flavored Potato Chips. The wavy chips are the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, like some Korean-style fried chicken recipes, which coat the crispy chicken in spicy gochujang, savory fish sauce, and sweet, tangy ketchup.
All three “Do Us a Flavor” chips are headed to retailers now, where you’ll be able to buy them for a limited time. Once you’ve determined your favorite of the three, you can vote for a winner of the $1 million prize on DoUsAFlavor.com between April 21, 2025, and June 13, 2025.
