Starbucks has been making some serious changes to its menu lately. Fans are growing rather upset over just how many beloved items are being discontinued.

Over the winter, the Seattle-based coffee chain removed 13 of its drinks, including the popular Iced Matcha Lemonade. The recent menu change was sparked by Starbucks’ plan to cut down food and beverage offerings from menus by 30% to focus on improving quality rather than focusing on quantity.

Now, a bakery favorite is leaving the menu and Starbucks fans are shocked.

Starbucks Is Taking the Double Chocolate Brownie Off Menus

According to a recent Reddit thread, Starbucks is quietly discontinuing its popular brownie. Alleged employees in the thread stated that the chain’s “April monthly update” confirmed this news, and fans are anything but happy about it.

We reached out to Starbucks and a representative confirmed the news saying, “In May, the Double Chocolate Brownie will be removed from the Starbucks menu in the U.S. Our baristas will be happy to recommend an alternative to customers, such as the Chocolate Cake Pop or Chocolate Chip Cookie.”

The rep went on to explain that the coffee chain is “removing a selection of less popular items to focus on premium beverages and food rooted in customer trends and preferences.”

The 13 drinks we saw removed from the menu earlier this year were said to be less popular and more complex to make. But the brownie seems to have a fan club rallying around it. Many of them took to the Reddit post to contemplate: “How is a brownie so offensive that Bux needs to punt it?”

The end of the brownie marks “the worst day of my life,” says one fan. “Not quite what was meant when people said Starbucks needed a smaller menu,” claims another. “This is so dumb.”

One angry customer chimes in saying, “The one thing you can count on is Starbucks discontinuing the good products.” Someone else adds that Starbucks should “Get rid of those $$$ sandwiches before this.”

As customers are now “mourning the loss” of a staple sweet, it’s hard not to wonder which item will be canceled next. With only a few bakery items left to grab, we’re hoping Starbucks doesn’t come for the vanilla scone or lemon loaf; otherwise, we’ll only have our copycat versions to fall back on. As one customer plainly put it: “Every decision in the ‘return to Starbucks’ initiative makes me less likely to return to Starbucks.”
