Key Takeaways
- Kool-Aid is releasing an all-new powdered drink pack, its first new product in more than five years.
- The brand is also teaming up with a fan-favorite footwear company to release a collaboration fans won't want to miss.
Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, drinking a sweet Kool-Aid is a universally beloved activity. Seeing the punch bowl of Kool-Aid at a get-together or a Kool-Aid Jammer in the cooler on a hot summer’s day can instantly transport you back to childhood. And, we’ll be honest, Kool-Aid’s tasty flavor still holds up.
While Kool-Aid has grown up with us to be turned into desserts—and even a new way to eat pickles—nothing beats the classic packet of drink mix that you can add to your water bottle or, of course, the big Kool-Aid pitcher. And even though the brand has previously released ready-to-drink juices and Jell-Os, for its first new launch in more than five years, it’s going back to the basics.
Kool-Aid is releasing a new flavor pack of drink mixes that will let fans mix and match for the first time ever.
Kool-Aid Teams Up With Nike for New Collaboration
As a nearly 100-year-old brand, Kool-Aid is essentially a household name. So, this year, it’s teaming up with another legacy brand to release a one-of-a-kind collaboration we don’t want to miss. Kool-Aid and Nike, with help from NBA star Ja Morant, are teaming up to launch the new Nike x Kool-Aid Ja 2 collection.
The new collab features Nike sneakers in colors inspired by Morant’s favorite Kool-Aid flavors: Blue Raspberry, Cherry, Orange, and Lemon-Lime. The colorful shoes, of course, include the iconic Kool-Aid man breaking through a wall with his signature catchphrase “Ohhh Yeah!” on the shoe’s tongue—as well as a glow-in-the-dark sole.
Kool-Aid
Kool-Aid was inspired by Morant’s love of many flavors, as well as fans’ curiosity about mixing multiple Kool-Aid flavors together. The new Mix n’ Kicks combo pack lets fans mix and match four of the brand’s flavors in one pack for a beverage experience that’s unique to them. Gatorade recently released something similar with its new Flavor Mashups that combine its Orange and Lemon-Lime flavors and Fruit Punch and Cool Blue flavors for an all-new sports drink.
However, unlike Gatorade’s new combined flavors, which are headed to stores now, Kool-Aid’s Mix n’ Kicks Combo pack will only be available via giveaway. On May 2, fans can enter to win the Mix n’ Kicks Combo pack, along with custom Kool-Aid dubraes and laces to customize their Nikes, on Kool-Aid’s site.
If you’re interested in the Nike x Kool-Aid Ja 2 sneakers, limited quantities will be available beginning May 16 on the SNRKS app and at select retailers nationwide.
If you don’t get the first May drop, Nike and Kool-Aid are releasing a second drop of new sneakers inspired by the red Kool-Aid man later this summer. Those sneakers will have the same details as the Ja 2 ones and will be released sometime in July.
If you aren't able to get your hands on the Mix n’ Kicks Combo pack, you can always create your own mash-up Kool-Aid flavor using the powdered drink mixes found at your favorite retailer—you just won’t get the custom laces to go with it.
