April 15 is a date that many people dread. Doing taxes, whether you tackle them yourself or have an accountant do the heavy lifting for you, is simply no fun. Even if you end up getting a refund, the anticipation can induce anxiety.

Some understanding restaurants step up on Tax Day to help us recalibrate after all that stress. This year, Krispy Kreme is continuing its tradition of offering a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for the price of sales tax when you buy a dozen doughnuts.

A deal on doughnuts is a great way to start the day, and when you get hungry around lunch or dinner, another thoughtful chain is offering a Tax Day deal to help you make it through the day, whether your taxes were finished back in February or you’ve waited until the last minute. If you’re a Burger King Royal Perks member, then listen up, because here’s your chance to score a burger for just a penny.

How to Get a Burger King Cheeseburger for 1 Cent

Burger King

On April 15, Royal Perks members who order through the BK app or its website can get a regular cheeseburger for 1 cent (plus tax) with any $1 or more purchase. Depending on location, a Burger King cheeseburger typically costs about $2.59 and contains one flame-grilled patty, melted American cheese, pickles, ketchup, and mustard served on a sesame seed bun.

Here are some suggestions for the $1 minimum purchase you must make to qualify for the deal. If you’ve just looked at the bottom line of your tax form and see that you owe some money, might we suggest getting a small soda or 4-piece Cheesy Tots? At about $1.50 and $2, respectively, they’re some of the lowest-priced items on the menu that can get you that cheeseburger for just a penny.

On the other hand, if you’ve discovered you’re getting a nice refund, you can probably choose anything you want on the menu. Given that you’ll be getting some extra change in your pocket, now might be the best time to tap into Burger King’s secret menu items if you want to try something new. Either way, you don’t want to miss out on this deal.
