These tangy jalapeño-flavored chips hit just the right balance of mild spice and creamy cheesiness found in jalapeño poppers. (However, if you can take the heat, we recommend this new permanent Doritos flavor.) If you love to cook with Doritos, you’ll definitely want this new variety for your summer cookout appetizers.
The new neon green bag is already earning high praise on social media, with fans saying it tastes better than other flavors in the Late Night series. @ZachBites1 on TikTok said, “I think these are better than the Late Night taco ones. These have more flavor.”
There are two camps in the world of jalapeño poppers: Team Cheddar and Team Cream Cheese. Fans of Arby’s Jalapeño Bites, which is firmly Team Cream Cheese, likely won’t enjoy these chips. As one Kroger shopper said, “These were so disappointing. I feel like it shouldn’t be that difficult to recreate the rich, spicy, cream-cheesy taste of a jalapeño popper, but this just tastes like jalapeño.”

That’s not to say cream cheese isn’t completely out of the flavor profile. Compared to the old Doritos Jalapeño & Cheddar flavor, Reddit fans said there is a distinct cream cheese taste this time around. And they deliver on the breaded flavor, too. One Reddit user said, “They have a sort of fried taste to them.”
The new Zesty Jalapeño Popper chips are currently available in stores and online, exclusively from Kroger and its brands QFC and Fred Meyer. Like all limited releases, these won’t be around forever, so skip the fryer and nab a bag of these chips before they disappear from shelves!
