Key Takeaways
- New flavored tortilla chips are landing on Aldi shelves this week, giving fans two exciting ways to scoop their favorite dips just in time for Cinco de Mayo.
- The new snacks are longtime favorites for some fans, but coming to Aldi for the first time.
If your regular meal rotation has felt repetitive and uninspired, it’s tempting to search for an entirely new recipe to keep things fresh. Sometimes, however, all you really need is a simple swap to improve upon the great base you already have. For example, substituting a pretzel bun for your typical hamburger bun or using a jalapeño-infused pizza dough instead of your regular pizza crust can add a whole new dimension to a familiar meal.
That’s the case with so many of our favorite Aldi products, which take the usual fare up a notch. This week’s Aldi Finds is filled with products for your Cinco De Mayo spread, but one in particular stood out to us: salsa- and queso-flavored tortilla chips.
Aldi Now Has On the Border Salsa Tortilla Chips and Queso Tortilla Chips
On The Border / Allrecipes
On The Border Queso Tortilla Chips and On The Border Salsa Tortilla Chips are landing on Aldi shelves this week, giving fans two exciting ways to scoop their favorite dips.
The salsa-inspired chips feature a dusting of zesty seasoning and a massive crunch that’s perfect for dipping in guacamole, elote dip, hot bean dip, and more. The queso-style chips combine the brand’s golden corn tortilla chips with the bold taste of restaurant-style queso into one craveable bite. Both varieties have been previously available at other retailers, but much to the frustration of fans, they have been very hard to find in stores.
“The salsa style chips from On The Border are absolutely the best of all the flavors possible! We love them. We cannot find them anywhere in the stores after we tried some at Sam’s. They stopped selling them and said that Utz had them, so we have ordered from Utz! They are now our favorite chip!” wrote one reviewer on the brand’s website.
Many others echoed the sentiment for the queso chips as well. “This is definitely their best version of their tortilla chips. Not sure why these are not on the store shelves. They would sell like crazy,” wrote one person. “These chips are the absolute favorite of mine. Cheesy with a slight hint of spice. I’ve eaten four bags all by myself. Why are they not sold in stores?” wondered another.
It’s no surprise that these chips are already a hit. The versatile snack can be enjoyed on its own, as part of an appetizer plate, or used in cooking. We can see these making the perfect crispy coating for chicken, being a flavorful binder in taco-inspired meatloaf, or as an excellent upgrade to your usual taco casserole topping. Be sure to stock up on your next Aldi run because we don’t know how long these hard-to-find chips will stick around.
