Since 1887, Barilla has been churning out pasta, and the convenience product has become a solid pantry staple. For me, the brand offers some nostalgia: It’s what my parents used to make all those weekly spaghetti nights when I was a kid.

As far as pasta shapes go, no one is a stranger to short shapes like penne and rigatoni, or long ones like angel hair and linguine. Of course, Barilla has all of these, but they also have some harder-to-find shapes, including cellentani, as well as some seasonal finds like last winter’s poinsettia-inspired snowflakes.

Now, Barilla is debuting two new shapes for even more meal inspiration—and to help scoop up every last bit of the sauce on my plate.

Barilla Adds Fusilloni and Orecchiette to Al Bronzo Lineup

Barilla recently launched two new pasta shapes to its sauce-gripping Al Bronzo collection: Fusilloni and Orecchiette. The latest additions, backed by consumer demand, will join Bucatini, Spaghetti, Mezzi Rigatoni, and Penne Rigate in the fan-favorite lineup.

The popular pasta producer teamed up with tastemaker and entrepreneur Brooklyn Peltz Beckham to relaunch the Al Bronzo line, which focuses on a bronze-cut texture aimed to perfectly soak up any sauce.

Angie Cotter, U.S. Pasta Category Marketing Director at Barilla, said the Al Bronzo noodles achieve the Italian art of Scarpetta, “the cherished Italian tradition of savoring every last drop.” The pasta-making process creates a micro-engraved texture on the dough, which improves the cling of sauces.

Al Bronzo's packaging is much different than Barilla's bright blue-and-yellow boxes. The pasta is sealed in a pouch-like, rich red bag, and the language highlights its sauce-gripping technique.

The new Fusilloni and Orecchiette pasta shapes are now available at select retailers nationwide. With pasta recipes like Fusilli with Grape Tomatoes and Sausage and Baked Ricotta Orecchiette on my roster, I can’t wait to hit the pasta aisle and stock up.
