Starbucks really knows how to keep its fans—and baristas—on their toes. Recently, after years of “secret menu” drinks taking over the internet, the chain has been leaning into the fan-loved creations by quietly dropping new drinks for customers to try. While the new beverages aren’t on the actual menu, baristas have been finding new recipes downloaded on the internal system, according to a Reddit post.

The recipes, typically made using the seasonal ingredients and drinks, make it easier for Starbucks baristas to ring up an order when customers come in asking for something like the “Dubai Chocolate” drink. While Starbucks doesn’t advertise the drinks on its menu or app, you’ll typically find them on its social media pages or on smaller boards in the store.

Starbucks' New Spring Secret Menu Drinks

Earlier this month, after it released the Iced Cherry Chai and brought back its lavender-flavored drinks, Starbucks added an Iced Mocha with Cherry Cold Foam and an Iced Lavender Latte with Lavender Cold Foam to its system, according to baristas. While those drinks didn’t receive a menu name, Starbucks’ latest creation did. As of April 29, you can order a “Mermaid Matcha” from Starbucks.

The Mermaid Matcha is made with the Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha and Strawberry puree. With the pink strawberry sauce on the bottom, green tea in the middle, and purple foam on top, it gives the illusion of a brightly colored mermaid—similar to the one on the Starbucks logo.

While baristas may have been taken aback by the new beverage recipes, fans have certainly been enjoying them.

One creator called the Iced Lavender Latte with Lavender Cold Foam the “best drink [they’ve] had from Starbucks.” And another said the Iced Mocha with Cherry Cold Foam tastes like a “chocolate-covered cherry latte.”

The winner of the three, however, seems to be the latest Mermaid Matcha, which has even won favor with baristas.

“[It tastes like] after you’re done eating Froot Loops and you drink the cereal milk,” TikTok user @teo._.nava said. “I’d give it a 9/10.”

The only bad thing about these not-so-secret menu items is that they’re only available for as long as the ingredients last. So, with Starbucks already teasing its summer menu, you won’t want to wait too long to try these three customer-approved creations.
