Nutella Is Launching a New Flavor for the First Time in Over 60 Years

Is there anything that doesn’t go well with Nutella? Whether you’re swirling spoonfuls into cake batter, cookie dough, banana bread, buttercream, or eating straight from the jar, we can’t think of anything that doesn’t instantly taste better when slathered with the rich, creamy chocolate-hazelnut spread.

People all over the world love Nutella so much that the brand hasn’t needed to innovate or introduce its audience to anything new—until now. Nutella’s parent company, Ferrero, recently announced plans to launch a new nutty variety of its fan-favorite spread to U.S. markets—a shocking first for the 61-year-old company.

Introducing the New Nutella Peanut

There’s no shying away from the fact that Americans love peanut butter. In 2022, the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that peanuts account for 65 percent of all U.S. nut consumption, which boils down to about eight pounds of peanuts per person annually.

Ferrero knows this, too, which is why it's adding a never-before-seen Nutella Peanut spread to its portfolio that "combines the distinctive creaminess of Nutella cocoa hazelnut spread with the delicious taste of roasted peanuts," according to a press release.

In other words, it’s all the things we love about Nutella, but packed with the rich, earthy flavors of America’s favorite nut. As the first-ever flavor innovation for the brand, this signals an exciting new era for Nutella—and we’re all on board.

The new Nutella Peanut was teased at this year’s Sweet and Snacks Expo, where our editors got to steal a taste ahead of its nationwide release. According to news editor Bailey Fink, “It’s like the perfect blend of peanut butter and hazelnut,” and emphasized this product isn’t meant to replace your run-of-the-mill peanut butter. Laced with warm notes of cocoa, it’s not overly chocolaty like the Jif peanut butter and chocolate spread, either. Bailey loved it on apples, but can see it working well with crackers, bread, pretzels, and more. 

TikTok star @snackreviews_aus was also at the expo got to try it. They said the new flavor is “delicious.”

What Is Nutella?

While Ferrero is mostly known in the U.S. for Nutella, Tic Tac, and Ferrero Rocher chocolates, the launch of Nutella Peanut is intended to help the candy giant diversify and drive growth in the North American market. If it proves successful, Ferrero hinted it may introduce more peanut-packed treats, offering fans even more delicious ways to enjoy the new peanut-chocolate spread.

Nutella Peanut is slated to hit stores in spring 2026 and joins a larger roll-out of new sweets Ferrero plans to launch between now and next year, including Marshmallow Butterfingers, Dr Pepper Tic Tacs, and limited-edition white chocolate Crunch bars.

While having to wait a whole year for the new Nutella feels kind of cruel, at least there’ll be no shortage of new candy to hold us down until then.
