TRADER JOE'S/ALLRECIPES

Key Takeaways

  • Trader Joe's just brought back one of its best seasonal Mini Sheet Cakes for a limited time.
  • With just over a pound of cake and frosting, this dessert is perfect for small gatherings, though many fans report finishing the entire thing themselves, because it’s so delicious.

If you’re looking for a dessert to take to a small gathering, Trader Joe’s latest bakery item might be what you’re looking for. Or, it might be something you choose to keep to yourself because it’s that good.

The store is famous for its sweet offerings, such as Kringles, banana pudding-flavored ice cream, and tiramisu. It’s also known for stocking many of these goodies only seasonally, so there’s always a rotating array to choose from.

Trader Joe’s offers a mini lemon sheet cake in the spring that sells out quickly. It’s so good that fans bring a “purse fork” to dig in immediately after buying it. Now, TJ’s has brought back another sheet cake that has fans packing forks in their purses yet again.

Trader Joe’s Brought Back Its Carrot Mini Sheet Cake

Unlike Costco’s Mini Cakes, which are yummy but not quite mini, Trader Joe’s mini sheet cakes look exactly like a miniature version of a regular sheet cake. They’re just over a pound of cake and frosting, and this version might be one of the best combos of cake and frosting ever: carrot cake and cream cheese frosting.

TJ’s describes the cake as “festively spiced” with walnuts and “cream cheese icing ribbons” with a “tinge of tanginess.” The Carrot Mini Sheet Cake debuted last year to rave reviews, and fans on Reddit say they have been “waiting over a year for [it] to come back in stock.”

Many other Reddit users have jumped in on the thread to praise the cake, writing, “They were giving samples at my store and literally people were grabbing multiples…me included…so good.”

Another fan added, “Omg I finally listened to this sub and got one today. Needless to say, 1/3 is already gone. Eating it straight out of the container with a spoon.”

“I ate an entire one yesterday,” one commenter even admitted.

When it debuted last year, one Reddit user joked, “Time for my purse fork to make a reappearance,” to which another responded, “The purse/car fork is a MUST if you’re a TJ’s regular.”

So be sure to pack a fork in your purse (or car) before leaving the house because, just like Tiffani Theissen, we know the best things from a Trader Joe’s shopping trip are meant to be enjoyed in the front seat, on the ride home. Now BRB—gotta run to TJ’s, fork in hand!
