Key Takeaways

  • Flipz has a new coated pretzel snack, and it’s an intriguing mashup of a candy-coated pretzel and a classic state fair treat with a not-so-subtle nod to the most iconic cookie brand ever.
  • Fans have spotted the new sweet-and-salty creation at Dollar Tree, Acme, and Albertsons so far.

Chocolate and salt are a hard-to-resist combination. That’s why treats like salted chocolate cookies and chocolate-covered pretzels are so popular. And while homemade is typically best, as everyone’s favorite celebrity cook, Ina Garten, says, “store-bought is fine.”

Chocolate-covered pretzels are one of those treats where store-bought is usually more than fine. One brand that gets it right is Flipz, the makers of milk-, dark-, and white fudge chocolate-covered pretzels, plus some less traditional—but still delicious—flavors.

Fans have spotted one of those unique flavors at Dollar Tree, Acme, and Albertsons, and it’s an intriguing mashup of a candy-coated pretzel and a classic state fair treat, complete with a not-so-subtle nod to the most iconic cookie brand ever.

New Flipz Fried Cookie-Flavored Covered Pretzels Spotted at Dollar Tree

Have you ever been to a state fair, a carnival, or a beach boardwalk and experienced the deliciousness that is a deep-fried Oreo? The chocolate sandwich cookies are dipped in batter and then lowered into hot oil for a few minutes. They come out crisp on the outside, hot on the inside, and the sandwich cream gets so soft it’s almost molten. They’re a summertime treat—often dusted with powdered sugar that gets all over your shirt—with an unmistakable sweet, sugary smell.

If that description just triggered a serious craving, then say hello to the Flipz Fried Chocolatey Sandwich Cookie Flavored Covered Pretzels. Yes, that’s how it’s printed on the bag. Flipz took all the elements of this carnival delicacy and turned it into the candy coating for a pretzel, complete with a flavor reminiscent of that signature deep-fried batter. Even better: it’s drizzled with chocolate stripes. And under all that coating is a crispy, salty pretzel to balance the sweetness.

But here’s what surprised us most of all: Flipz beat Oreo to the punch. We’re shocked that a similar snack hasn’t been released by the cookie brand. In fairness, Oreo’s been busy this year with celebrity collabs, brand-name baking mixes, and crowd-pleasing new flavors.

Since these sweet-and-salty snacks can be found at Dollar Tree, you can snag them for just $1.25. They’re labelled as a limited-edition flavor, so if you’re as intrigued as we are, you might want to stock up when you see them.

Instagram’s @Markie_Devo spotted these limited-edition pretzels and asked followers if they’d give them a try.

“Deep-fried Oreo? Fried chocolatey sandwich cookie?” one follower wrote, along with a check emoji, indicating that, yes, they’d definitely give them a try. Another person commented, “FRIED OREO PRETZELS???? SIGN ME UPPPPP.”

Overall, the responses were positive, but one early reviewer had this to say: “It has like, a hint of the fried flavor. It's there but then you get the hard pretzel crunch and your brain is confused. Expecting soft fried cookie, get hard pretzel lol. Worth a try at least once but I'm not going with this flavor again.”

Confused brain or not, Flipz gets credit for innovating in the snack space, and also for reminding us of all of the treats—including deep-fried Oreos—we’ll be enjoying this summer.
