Key Takeaways
- Breakfast pros Thomas' just released two new bagels that feature an enticing addition.
- The bagels are available now in the Northeast and will be available nationwide in the fall.
If you’ve paid any attention to the latest nutrition craze, you’ll know why foods such as cottage cheese and Greek yogurt are immensely popular. They are excellent sources of protein, and it’s hard to miss the fact that high-protein diets are all the rage right now, especially if you spend any time on “FoodTok.”
Influencers are combining cottage cheese and mustard to create a protein-packed dip for snacking. They’re also stirring powdered pudding mix plus baking powder into yogurt to create a protein-rich, cheesecake-like “fluffy yogurt.” And, vanilla protein shakes are getting mixed with soda for TikTok’s beloved Protein Diet Coke.
Now, mainstream food brands are catering to protein seekers, too. Cheerios just dropped a Protein Cookies & Créme cereal that boasts its 8 grams of protein right on the front of the box. But we’re just getting started. Breakfast giant Thomas’ is getting in on the action as well.
Thomas’ Has New High-Protein Bagels
Thomas' / Allrecipes
Thomas’, makers of everyone’s favorite English muffins as well as breads and bagels, just announced High Protein Bagels. Available in Plain and Everything, the bagels contain a plant-based blend of soy protein isolate, pea protein isolate, and fava bean proteins to create bagels with 20 grams of protein each—double the protein content of their traditional counterparts.
Currently, these protein-enriched bagels are available in the Northeast, but they should be on store shelves throughout the country by October, allowing everyone to pop a bagel in the oven and have a quick breakfast or snack that’s full of the nutrient people can seem to get enough of these days.
Want to make your bagel even more protein-dense? Microwave up some scrambled eggs while the bagel is toasting for an egg and Swiss cheese bagel sandwich. You’ll have plenty of energy to make it until your midday protein shake.
