Lately, the so-called fast food wars have brought us loyal customers, competitive pricing, and new goodies like we’ve never seen before. From Subway’s $7 Footlong deal to new Arby’s barbecue sandwiches for $6, great deals are ours for the taking. And as soon as one chain introduces a new lemonade, the other is dropping a “dreamy” frozen drink. The possibilities are as endless as the bottomless fries at Red Robin these days.

But we’re not complaining. In fact, there’s never been a better time to grab a meal on the go. Now, hot on the heels of McDonald’s reintroducing its McCrispy Strips, KFC is answering back by offering up its own tenders—a mainstay on menus—at a fraction of the price.

KFC's 5 Tenders for $5 Deal

Colonel Sanders and the gang aren’t letting the Golden Arches get all the shine with the recent McCrispy release. In response, KFC is touting its Original Recipe Tenders for a bargain this week. From May 5 through May 11, KFC Rewards members can enjoy five pieces for just $5. Considering a typical tender goes for around $2.39 a piece, that’s a savings of more than 50 percent.

As a reminder, these fast food favorites are double-breaded—with the secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices, of course—before they are pressure-fried to create an extra crispy, golden brown, and juicy piece of chicken (we recommend them with the craveable, zesty, Comeback Sauce).

Just take it from Catherine Tan-Gillespie, President of KFC U.S., who puts it plainly: “Why settle for a tender from a burger chain when you can get a deal on what we believe is the best tasting tender, from the OG of fried chicken?”

So if you’re craving comfort food on the go, as we roll into what is affectionately known as “Maycember,” don’t skip the KFC drive-thru. Not only can you take advantage of this too-good-to-pass deal, but you can also see what the fuss is about with the return of KFC’s Chicken & Waffles and the new Strawberry & Crème Pie Poppers. Just don’t forget to sign in to your rewards account.
