Key Takeaways

  • Tillamook announced recently that it would be making two limited-edition seasonal ice cream flavors available year-round as part of its permanent collection.
  • The creamy, dreamy flavors both represent iconic summertime desserts, in ice cream form.

In a world where ice cream treats seem to be geting more innovative and elaborate—think Thin Mint Chipwiches at Costco, Baskin-Robbins’ tres leches flavor of the month, or Trader Joe’s Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches—sometimes, you just want to reach in the freezer, pull out a pint and a spoon, and dig in.

Whether you are an eat-straight-from-the-carton person or you prefer perfectly round scoops in a bowl, you’ll want to know about Tillamook’s latest announcement. This news may have been overshadowed when the brand recently released a new limited-edition flavor, Apple Crisp, but we want to make sure you don’t miss it.

Make room in your freezer, because the dairy pro is adding two of its former limited-edition summer flavors to the full-time roster.

Tillamook’s Orange & Cream and Campfire Peanut Butter Cup Join the Permanent Lineup

Tillamook already has some major players. Its Old Fashioned Vanilla is a favorite of professional chefs, and the Sea Salt Honeycomb Toffee is the stuff of legends. It’s no surprise when it introduces limited-time flavors, like this past spring’s Salty Caramel Pretzel, fans beg for them to become permanent.

Sometimes, Tillamook grants begging fans their desires. Recently, the brand announced it was making Orange and Cream and Campfire Peanut Butter Cup permanent flavors in its lineup, both worthy of eating straight from the container by spoonful, scooping into bowls, or using as the starring ingredient in summer desserts.

As you may expect, the Orange and Cream combines orange and sweet cream ice creams, and is reminiscent of one of summer’s greatest treats, the orange creamsicle. The flavor combo is so scrumptious that it’s been turned into cheesecake, pancakes, fluff salad, and even boozy shots.

When Tillamook posted about the ice cream on Instagram, using it to make an ice cream float with orange juice and sparkling water, one follower called it the “BEST flavor ever.” Another was so excited that “Tillamook joined the orange/vanilla team.” We tend to agree with the fan who stated, “This is what dreams are made of.”

The Campfire Peanut Butter Cup is comprised of toasted marshmallow ice cream with a fudge swirl and mini chocolaty peanut butter cups. We can just imagine this between two graham crackers to make something akin to a s’mores ice cream sandwich.

As we head into summer, we think Tillamook made a smart decision to make these two flavors permanent additions and to also put them in 1.5-quart containers, because pints would disappear way too quickly.
