If you thought the cola wars between Coca-Cola and Pepsi during the ’70s and ’80s led to the birth of many new sodas and flavors, then this current rise of “better-for-you” soda brands deserves a line in the 21st-century version of “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”
Between Poppi, Olipop, and Coca-Cola’s newly launched Simply Pop, new soda brands boasting better and more natural ingredients are popping up left and right. Now, we’re getting a new soda from an unlikely source: Spindrift.
Spindrift Releases New Spindrift Soda
Spindrift is known for its line of flavored sparkling waters—from classics like Lime and Grapefruit to more unique options like Half Tea & Half Lemon and Cosmopolitan—and its alcoholic sparkling water, which it released in 2021. Now, for the first time, the brand is stepping out of sparkling water and into full-blown sodas.

Spindrift Soda is a no-added-sugar, natural-ingredient soda in five bold flavors. Instead of a traditional cola or root beer, Spindrift is staying true to its unique flavor approach and releasing Concord Freeze, Ginger Ale, Orange Cream Float, Shirley Temple, and Strawberry Shortcake flavors.
The new sodas are made with the same sparkling water principles in mind—so using real ingredients. “There’s nearly 3/4 of an orange in every can of Orange Cream Float,” Spindrift’s founder Bill Creelman says.
Each soda boasts 20 percent not-from-concentrate juice and fewer than eight grams of naturally occurring sugar—as opposed to the upwards of 35 grams of added sugar you might find in traditional soda. However, unlike some of the new “better-for-you” pops hitting markets now, Spindrift Soda doesn’t have “unnecessary ingredients,” according to the brand.
So, you won’t find any prebiotics, apple cider vinegar, or stevia in Spindrift Soda.
Not only are the sodas “better for you,” but they’re environmentally conscious, too, as Spindrift promises to donate a portion of all sales to Kiss The Ground, which is a nonprofit organization that promotes “regeneration and healthy soil as a viable solution for our wellness, water, and climate crisis.”
Spindrift Soda will be offered on the Spindrift online store and Amazon first, but the brand promises to launch the five sodas at select retailers later in 2025. Keep your eyes out for the new sodas at grocery stores near you because there's no telling when Spindrift Soda might hit shelves.
