Certain kitchen appliances are tough to do without if you cook from scratch regularly. An electric hand mixer is an essential kitchen tool for making cake batter, whipping potatoes, or fresh whipped cream. A blender is great for making smoothies, salad dressing, or puréeing soup.
Food processors come in handy, too, for making hummus and pie crust, chopping vegetables, shredding cheese, plus dozens of other kitchen tasks.
Many home cooks have all three appliances and know how much room the three can take up in the kitchen. Now, thanks to Aldi, one tool can tackle most of those tasks for smaller amounts—an immersion blender with a few accessories.
What Is an Immersion Blender?
An immersion blender, sometimes called a stick blender, is a handheld electric wonder. It can go directly into a cup, bowl, or pot and blend the contents. In many models, the bottom blade section of the immersion blender, detaches from the motor portion for easy cleaning.
You can buy a simple immersion blender with a detachable blending blade or one with additional attachments to connect to the motor portion, such as a whisk or a frother. Some even come with a mini food processor, essentially a plastic cup with a blade inside. The immersion blender’s motor part hooks onto the cup’s top and powers the blade. That mini food processor can quickly chop vegetables, grate hard cheese such as Parmesan, or make small batches of creamy dips.
Even if you own an electric hand mixer (or a stand mixer), a blender, and a food processor, having an immersion blender with attachments is handy. It’s so easy to purée soups right in the pot with a stick blender, eliminating the worry of steam building up in a closed blender and pushing the lid off. If you want to chop only one onion for a recipe, the small food processing function of the immersion blender means you’re not taking up a lot of space in your dishwasher with the bowl of a larger version.
And, if you don't have all three larger appliances, the immersion blender can help you do some of the tasks of your missing appliance while taking up less room in your cupboards. So what's the drawback? Such machines can cost up to $70 from brands like Cuisinart.
Aldi’s Ambiano Immersion Blender with Chopping Bowl
Aldi/Allrecipes
Enter Aldi with its trusty appliance dupes. This week, starting Feb. 26 until supplies run out, Aldi is bringing back its own immersion blender—in black or the coastal blue color that’s so hot right now—with chopping bowl and whisk attachments for just $24.99. The stainless steel blender attachment has two speeds.
When the blender attachment is detached, you can use the motor portion to clip onto the whisk or the mini food processor. There’s also a lid for the mini food processor to cover it and store food.
Like most Aldi Finds, the immersion blender will most likely be on the store shelves for a short time without restocking. So, if you want this $25 handy kitchen appliance similar to the more expensive Cuisinart Variable Speed Hand Blender, get to your local Aldi as soon as you can to snatch one up.
