No matter what’s on the Chipotle menu, the fast casual restaurant will always be a favorite. However, as much as customers love their go-to burritos and bowls stuffed with chicken, steak, or carnitas, the interest for limited-time protein offerings will always exist.

In the past, fans have enjoyed Chipotle’s Carne Asada and Chicken Al Pastor—so much that Chipotle continues to bring back the adobo- and pineapple-marinated chicken. However, if you thought those were Chipotle’s best innovations (like I did), prepare for the brand’s newest menu offering, Chipotle Honey Chicken, to change your mind.

Chipotle Introduces New Chipotle Honey Chicken

With the “swicy” trend—and more specifically hot honey—on the rise, Chipotle is throwing its hat in the sweet-and-spicy ring, even more than with its Chicken Al Pastor. While the chain isn’t teaming up with Mike’s Hot Honey (like KFC, Jersey Mike’s, and Dunkin’ have), it’s offering a spicy honey the way Chipotle knows best: with fresh ingredients in a marinade.

Chipotle’s new Chipotle Honey Chicken features grilled chicken seasoned with Mexican spices and marinated in a blend of seared, smoked chipotle peppers and wildflower honey.

In 2024, Chipotle tested its new chicken in both Nashville, Tennessee, and Sacramento, California, and it quickly became a fan favorite. Chipotle says the test surpassed initial expectations and became the brand’s best-selling limited-time offering.

Now, it’s bringing the already fan-loved chicken to nationwide menus—and beyond to Canada, the U.K., France, and Germany—beginning March 7. But, if you’re already salivating over the new limited-time protein, Chipotle Rewards members can try it early via the Chipotle app and site starting March 6.

Take it from me, you’re going to want to take full advantage of the early access. I tried the new Chipotle Honey Chicken before it hit menus, and here’s my honest review.

My Honest Review of Chipotle's New Chipotle Honey Chicken

I loved Chipotle’s Chicken Al Pastor for its fiery flavor cut back with a hint of fruity sweetness, but the new Chipotle Honey Chicken blows the al pastor out of the water. I think it’s safe to say the new Chipotle Honey Chicken is the best thing Chipotle has ever released.

It’s the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, providing a different, smokier kick than al pastor. Chipotle Honey Chicken isn’t just straight heat, it’s spice with a defined flavor—plus, the honey offers the ideal balance without being overly sweet.

The new protein tastes exactly like it’s been marinated in Chipotle’s fan-favorite Honey Vinaigrette—and, if you know, you know that that’s the best upgrade to any Chipotle menu item.

I tried the new Chipotle Honey Chicken in both a quesadilla and my typical burrito bowl. The quesadilla allows the chicken’s flavor to really shine, but I already know the new Chipotle Honey Chicken will be my go-to in all my bowls moving forward.

The only bad thing about the new menu item is that it won’t be around forever. Typically, Chipotle runs its limited offerings for just a few months, so I’d advise you to try Chipotle Honey Chicken early so you can enjoy it as much as possible before it’s gone.
