From its legendary $1.50 hot dog combo to rotating seasonal treats, Costco’s food court has built a dedicated fanbase that eagerly anticipates every menu change. Avid customers are constantly spotting new and returning items fresh out of the kitchen—like the latest strawberry banana smoothie and turkey and Swiss sandwich.

Now, in an exciting twist, one of Costco's former food court favorites is making a long-awaited comeback.

Although not all changes to the store’s food court are considered good changes by customers (looking at you, Coca-Cola switch), this returning sandwich has fans amped up for their next shopping run. Yes, the hot turkey and provolone sandwich is officially back—and it might just be better than ever.

Costco’s Hot Turkey and Provolone Sandwich

For those who never got the chance to try it the first time around, the hot turkey and provolone sandwich is a warm and satisfying meal. It consists of sliced oven-roasted turkey breast, provolone cheese, red onions, tomatoes, and a basil garlic mayonnaise, all served on a soft, toasted roll. According to a Facebook post, the sandwich is priced at $6.99 and is estimated to pack in 820 calories.

The sandwich mysteriously disappeared from the menu during the pandemic, much to the disappointment of its loyal fans. However, the warehouse's super sleuths recently noted its reappearance on social media, with @costcohotfinds confirming that stores across the U.S. should expect to see the sandwich back on the menu soon.

A recent Reddit thread confirmed that at least some locations, including those in Oregon, have already begun serving it again. While some longtime fans were worried that the sandwich wouldn’t live up to its former glory, early reviews are promising.

One Reddit user assured shoppers that the sandwich “has more meat than the old one, but otherwise, it’s pretty much the same.” Other commenters said they’re incredibly “excited” and “need this sandwich immediately,” delighted that Costco is “finally bringing back a good sandwich.”

There is one notable change, though: the price. When the hot turkey and provolone sandwich was last on the menu, it reportedly cost just $3.99. Now, at $6.99, it’s nearly double the price. While that’s a bit of a sticker shock, it’s not entirely surprising. Costco has already increased the price of some other bakery items, like its fan-favorite croissants, due to inflation and ingredient costs.

Still, if the sandwich delivers on flavor, fans seem willing to overlook the higher cost. Maybe this is even a sign that we can expect retired favorites, like the combo pizza or churros, to make a comeback in the future. Here’s to hoping that Costco continues to change its food court menu for the better!
