Trader Joe’s shoppers know how valuable the store is when it comes to specialty items. Of course, TJ’s is a budget-friendly way to shop for produce and dinner staples, but the neighborhood grocer also offers a range of exclusive items you can’t find anywhere else.
Fans regularly flock to the store for must-have specialty products like Truffle Dip and the ever-versatile Hot and Sweet Pepper Jelly. Recently, customers spotted a new limited-time item, and they’re already stocking up.
Trader Joe’s New Artichoke Bottoms
Shoppers can now find Artichoke Bottoms in the Trader Joe’s freezer section. While artichoke hearts typically get all the love, artichoke bottoms have the same nutty flavor and can be used in a variety of dishes. Rather than including the leaves, as the heart does, an artichoke bottom only includes the vegetable’s fleshy base, which naturally forms a cup shape.
Instagrammer @trader_joes_treasure_hunt shared the find in a recent post and users filled the comments with excitement and serving ideas for the unique product. “Bought three bags. They are limited! And THEY ARE AMAZING!!” said one fan. “These were outstanding!!! Sautéed [them] in butter garlic and lemon. Running back to get 5 more bags of these hearts,” wrote one user in a Reddit thread.
In addition to dipping, these cups would make an excellent appetizer filled with all the ingredients you love in stuffed mushrooms and stuffed artichoke hearts. Cooked ground sausage and fresh herbs, bread crumbs and grated Parmesan, or ricotta-based fillings with spinach and lemon zest would all be a delicious way to serve up these soft, earthy vegetable cups. TJ’s website suggests letting the artichoke bottoms thaw in the refrigerator, then filling them with your desired ingredients—like Spinach and Artichoke Dip—and baking until warm and bubbly. (Talk about a dream Super Bowl appetizer!)
Trader Joe’s Artichoke Bottoms are in stores now but only for a limited time, so be sure to stock up on this popular find before it’s gone for good.
